Why are Optimum Realism textures blurry or smeared in the distance
Distance blur is mipmapping plus weak anisotropic filtering, not a broken pack. Set Mipmap Levels to 4 and turn Anisotropic Filtering up (or add Better Mipmaps on Iris). It's a vanilla render limitation that high-res packs make more obvious.

Where does it look blurry?
This is mipmapping doing its job a bit too aggressively on a high-res pack. Raise Mipmap Levels to 4 and turn up anisotropic filtering, which sharpens textures viewed at steep angles.
- Options → Video Settings → Mipmap Levels → 4 (not Off — Off causes harsh shimmer instead)
- On OptiFine: Video Settings → Quality → Anisotropic Filtering → 4 or 8
- On Iris + Sodium: install Better Mipmaps (https://modrinth.com/mod/better-mipmaps) for the anisotropic detail Sodium drops
That's usually anisotropic filtering set too high on an incompatible setup, or a GUI scale / resolution issue — not mipmaps. Try turning Anisotropic Filtering OFF first; some hardware blurs every texture when it's on. If close-up textures are blurry on Bedrock RTX, the world may still be loading high-res mip data — wait a few seconds after joining.
That's the opposite problem — too little mipmapping. See the shimmer page; it's the same mipmap/anisotropic cluster from the other direction.
