How do I install Optimum Realism on Minecraft Java Edition
Download the .zip, drop it in .minecraft/resourcepacks/, enable it in Options → Resource Packs. For the full look with shaders, also install Iris + Sodium + a LabPBR-compatible shader pack.
Download the right edition + resolution
Optimum Realism Java ships at 64x (free) and 128x / 256x / 512x via Patreon. Pick the highest resolution your hardware can comfortably run.
Open the resourcepacks folder from inside Minecraft
Click Options → Resource Packs → Open Pack Folder. This opens the exact folder Minecraft will look in — no guessing where .minecraft lives.
Manually: on Windows, paste %appdata%\.minecraft\resourcepacks in Win+R. On Mac, ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/resourcepacks. On Linux, ~/.minecraft/resourcepacks.
Drop the .zip in (do NOT unzip)
Minecraft reads packs straight from the .zip. Unzipping it gives you a folder, which can also work — but only if the folder structure is correct. Leaving it zipped avoids that.
Enable the pack
Close and reopen Options → Resource Packs. Optimum Realism appears in the left column ("Available"). Click the right arrow to move it to "Selected", then click Done. Textures load immediately.
Add shaders for the marketing-screenshot look
The textures look matte without a shader. To unlock PBR depth, reflections, and lighting, install:
Iris (shader loader)Sodium (performance)A LabPBR shader (we recommend Kappa)
For the full mod stack including Continuity, Polytone, EMF, ETF — see the Iris+Fabric mod list.
