Why isn't Optimum Realism RTX loading on Minecraft Bedrock

Usually one of three things: ray tracing wasn't enabled BEFORE you joined the world, another resource pack on the world/realm is overriding ours, or you're on a dual-GPU laptop using the integrated GPU instead of the dedicated one.

Which of these matches your setup?

This is the most common cause. Bedrock RTX initialisation only fires at world load. Re-join.

  1. Quit to the main menu
  2. Hover the world → click the pencil (Edit)
  3. Scroll to Experiments → enable Ray Tracing
  4. Click "Play" — RTX effects should kick in immediately

Realms and servers can force their own resource pack on top of yours. Open the world → Resource Packs and confirm Optimum Realism is at the top of the active stack. If the server-side pack is replacing ours, ask the server owner to allow client packs.

Windows is probably running Minecraft on the integrated GPU, which can't do RTX.

  1. Open Windows Settings → System → Display → Graphics
  2. Find Minecraft Bedrock in the app list
  3. Set "Graphics preference" to High performance
  4. Restart Minecraft

Known Mojang issue — happens when you toggle RTX inside the world or when world files cache the wrong PBR data. Fix: quit, disable RTX, re-launch the world, then quit, re-enable RTX, re-launch.

You need an RTX 20-series or newer NVIDIA GPU (or equivalent ray-tracing AMD card). The Bedrock pack still works as a normal high-resolution texture pack — RTX just won't fire. You'll see PBR materials without the ray-traced reflections.
